Escape to Bracu Estate, a Mediterranean-inspired oasis nestled in Bombay’s rolling hills

One of Auckland’s most revered destinations for good food, good times and good memories.

With a vision to bring a slice of his homeland to Kiwi shores, Croatian-born Ivan Simunovich likely didn’t know that when he planted New Zealand’s largest privately owned olive grove in 1999, he was laying the foundations for what would become one of the country’s most celebrated destinations for dining, events and gatherings. From those first olive trees, a place of connection, hospitality and enduring beauty began to take shape.

In 2020, Ivan sold the estate to its new owners, who have continued to honour his legacy - preserving the spirit, beauty and traditions that define the now known Bracu Estate. We remain committed to the Mediterranean principles Ivan brought with him from the island of Brač: caring for the environment, celebrating quality seasonal food, and embracing the meaningful moments — both big and small — that bring people together.

WE’VE NEVER WAVERED FROM OUR MEDITERRANEAN TRADITIONS

A commitment to the environment, a love of quality, seasonal food, and the importance of celebrating both the significant and the small moments with loved ones.

Today, the 70 hectares of olive trees planted in the idyllic rolling hills on the boundaries of Bombay are transformed into award-winning oils, produced here on our estate.

Those olive trees also provide a breathtaking backdrop for dining in our restaurant, weddings, events, relaxed get-togethers and outdoor activities. From our award-winning restaurant, to our exceptional venue, Bracu Pavilion, we’re firmly committed to sustainability.

With our 25,000 olive trees. We know that if we take care of the land, it will take care of us.
